FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of preparing the catalyst involves: at the first activation step, treating particles of the supported cobalt-based Fischer-Tropsch catalyst precursor, having a catalyst support saturated with cobalt and containing cobalt oxide, with a hydrogen-containing reducing gas or nitrogen-containing gas at a first heating rate HR1 until temperature of the precursor reaches a value T1 where 80°C≤T1≤180°C, to form a partially treated catalyst precursor; at the second activation step, treating the partially treated catalyst precursor with a hydrogen-containing reducing gas at a second heating rate HR2, where 0≤HR2<HR1, for a period of time t1 where t1 is equal to 0.1-20 hours, to form a partially reduced precursor, and then at the third activation step, treating the partially reduced catalyst precursor with a hydrogen-containing reducing gas at a third heating rate HR3, where HR3>HR2, until the partially reduced precursor reaches a temperature T2, where 300°C≤T2≤600°C and holding the partially reduced catalyst precursor at T2 for a time t2, where t2 is equal to 0-20 hours, to form an activated supported cobalt-based Fischer-Tropsch catalyst.
EFFECT: obtaining a catalyst with high activity.
