FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves generating illumination in form of quasi-point scatter spots in the image plane of two radiators, converting the optical signal into an electrical signal, measuring coordinates of the scatter spots and determining the displacement value. The optical signal is converted to an electrical signal by a CCD matrix whose centre is designated by programming. Coordinates of energy centres of gravity of the first and second scatter spots are used to determine coordinates of the middle of the space in between them using formulas: and where x', y' are coordinates of the centre of the space between scatter spots, x1, x2 are horizontal coordinates of energy centres of gravity of the first and second scatter spots, respectively, y1, y2 are vertical coordinates of the energy centres of gravity of the first and second scatter spots, respectively. The displacement of the controlled object X, Y is determined from the relationship: X = x'·M and Y = y'·M, where is a scaling factor, B is the length of the basic section in the object space.
EFFECT: reduced quality requirements for executing separate units of the system, high degree of interaction thereof, versatility of the apparatus, reduced accuracy requirements for installing parts of the system and simple adjustment and use.
