FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device has an optical source, a sensitive element, an optical receiver, light guides which connect the optical source and receiver, as well as an information processing unit. The sensitive element includes a total internal reflection prism, a reflecting membrane and a spacer with electric contacts. The spacer is made from piezoelectric material and lies between the total internal reflection prism and the reflecting membrane. The information processing unit converts the electric signal from the optical receiver to a measured pressure value and generates a control signal which is transmitted to the electric contacts of the spacer.

EFFECT: wider measurement range of external effects and high sensitivity of the fibre-optic converter.
