FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design of floating islands intended for habitation of people and animals, for basing air and marine transport including submarines, as well as for deployment of missiles of various purposes including outer-space missiles. Herewith, the invention may also be used in designs of small-dimensioned floating islands intended primarily for growing on them animals, plants and fishes in aquatic aviaries of island, primarily in offshore strip. Floating island contains platform resting on submerged floating base which is made of movably interconnected multiple components enclosed into rigid cage of island. Each base component has watertight protection and being joined with adjacent components forms central agglomeration with which peripheral agglomerations are movably connected which also comprise base. Each component of base is made of reinforced hydrophobic porous heavy concrete and filled with material with less volume density than that of heavy concrete. In each base component which is located at island bottom, at least one spherical vault filled with air or gas is made. Between vault and aquatic medium, there is air cavity communicating with atmosphere via air duct passing through island cage and platform. The island is equipped with bottom stabiliser of island position located under central agglomeration and connected with cage, as well as with lateral stabilisers connected with island cage.
EFFECT: better buoyancy and stability of island, lower labour consumption during its construction.
