ARTIFICIAL ISLAND, ITS SUPPORT AND METHOD FOR ITS CONSTRUCTION Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: hydraulic engineering, developing, arrangement of sea shelf for recovery and deep processing of hydrocarbon crude. SUBSTANCE: rigging check of sea floor is made at erection of artificial island on sea shelf. Artificial island is provided with internal bay. Support of artificial island is built up of outpost envelope and consolidation piles. Outpost envelope is made by installing main pontoons in the form of divergent lines. Sides of mentioned pontoons facing internal bay are fastened by means of banking ring. Floating piles are driven through external perimeter of banking ring and are rigidly fixed to mentioned pontoons. Supporting piles are driven up to carrier rock of sea floor through perimeter of banking ring except for places meant for lock navigation canals. Then at least one lock navigation canal is made by earth excavation to provide communication between internal bay and open sea. Dome is erected at supporting piles over internal bay. Such erection of artificial island will make it possible to improve environmental safety of sea shelf arrangement and development, recovery of industrial and domestic wastes due to reducing emission of pollutants, to improve living conditions for population in environmentally hazardous areas, and also to recondition polluted areas.
