FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of measuring parameters of the pulse characteristic of a propagation channel in the presence of radiators and reflectors, fixed or mobile, is meant for detecting and determining parameters of the position and kinematics of these radiators and reflectors, or for automatic determination of the location of a receiving system when implementing the present invention, wherein the system has N sensitive elements which receive signals from said radiators or reflection from said reflectors, wherein the method comprises at least the following steps: determining an uncertainty function which indicates spatial analysis and delay-range/Doppler-kinematic analysis, determining at least one sufficient statistic corresponding to correlation between a known signal, which corresponds to the complex envelope of the emitted signal, and a filter output w(l, m), where l is a time-domain assumption and m is a frequency-domain assumption, determining values of pairs (l, m) by comparing the statistic value for pairs (l, m) with a threshold value.

EFFECT: high efficiency of determining the pulse characteristic of electromagnetic or acoustic wave propagation channels.
