FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: according to the device concept, the optical waveguide contains an activated core and a double light-reflective shell. Onto the inner surface of the tube one sequentially applies five layers of an amorphous dielectric with refractive index equal to n1<n2<n3, |n2-n4|<10-3, |n1-n5|<10-3. The tube usage allows to implement the method for manufacture of the said waveguide with application of plasma chemical CVD process of silicon dioxide sedimentation in a low-pressure UHF discharge.

EFFECT: invention ensures small optical losses and a high coefficient of pumping power conversion in case of high concentrations of the activator impurity.
