FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: adaptive item monitoring sensor includes sensitive surface, the first, the second and the third output terminals, AND, OR-NOR logic elements, monitoring sensor of metal and non-metal items, initial position setting unit, binary counter of electrical pulses as to modulus three, electric oscillation generator, and indication unit with their corresponding electric connections. On the first output terminal there formed are potential signals of position monitoring of metal or non-metal items, on the second and third output terminals - two-digit binary digital code of position monitoring and identification of metal or non-metal items. Adaptive item monitoring sensor provides automatic monitoring of metal or non-metal items without any mechanical contact to them and its automatic adaptation to certain type of monitored item.

EFFECT: improving performance characteristics and increasing automation level of item monitoring process.
