FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic signals are emitted to and received from the control object using an antenna array; ultrasonic oscillations received by each array element during emission of the ultrasonic signal independently by each element are detected; and point-by-point construction the image of the internal structure of the object is carried out by selecting from all received oscillations, those fragments whose delay time is equal to the propagation time of ultrasonic signals from the emitting element of the array to each imaged point of the object and from there to the receiving element, summation of these selected fragments for each point of the image and recording the summation result. Considering the known thickness of the control object, the resultant sum of the selected fragments for each point of the image further includes samplings of fragments whose delay time is equal to the propagation time of ultrasonic signals re-reflected from the bottom and outer surface of the control object on paths from the emitting element of the array to the given imaged point of the object and from there to the receiving element.
EFFECT: high sensitivity to small reflectors, high resolution.
