FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention involves separation of one or more fatty acids from a fatty acid source, where content of fatty acids is higher than 90 wt % of free fatty acids. The free fatty acids are then heated, said free fatty acids being obtained either in an inert atmosphere without a decarboxylation catalyst or optionally in an inert atmosphere for conversion of all or essentially all free fatty acids to alkane, alkene or mixture thereof and carbon dioxide, wherein the heating step is carried out at temperature from 220°C to 650°C.
EFFECT: production fuel of higher quality.
