METHOD TO SELECT OPENING SIZE FOR BLAST RELIEF ELEMENT OF STRUCTURE AND ITS WEIGHT DESIGNED TO PROTECT BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES AGAINST EXPLOSIONS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC E04B1/92

Abstract RU 2459050 C1

FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method to select an opening size for a blast relief element of a structure and its weight designed to protect buildings and structures against explosions consists in the fact that in a blast chamber vapours of a flammable liquid are exploded by ignition of the flammable mixture from an electric spark of an ignition plug, the blast chamber is equipped with a blast relief element, which is installed in the end part of the vessel, closed with a safety screen, in parallel to a mechanical indicator of pressure with a switch of indicator motor start, and the blast chamber with the ignition spark having a button to start ignition is arranged as opposite to the end part of the vessel closed with the safety screen, at the same time the vessel is equipped with nozzles to blow the blast vessel after the experiment, besides, the nozzle for filling of a flammable liquid with a plug installed on it is fixed in the vessel wall above the ignition plug contacts, at the same time the elements involved into the test: pressure indicator, ignition plug, nozzle for flammable liquid filling, nozzles to blow the blast vessel are selected according to break strength exceeding strength of the researched blast relief element at least twice, at the same time the blast pressure is recorded with a mechanical pressure indicator. After each experiment the inner volume of the vessel is blown with air, and the necessary concentration of a vapour mix with air is ensured by dosing of the liquid with a dropper via a nozzle, which is closed with a plug after filling of liquid. At the same time the required value Kbl and weight of the blast relief element are identified experimentally on a laboratory plant.

EFFECT: higher efficiency in protection of buildings, structures, as well as process equipment against explosions by increasing efficiency and reliability of actuation with the help of damaging structural elements.
