FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: ceramic armour element is made in the form of a regular hexagonal prism the side edges of which have concave shape relative to vertical axis. Composite armour contains crushing-diverting layer consisting of separate ceramic elements combined into a single panel by means of a binding agent on the basis of polymers, and arresting layer made from aluminium alloy, steel or other strong material. Crushing-diverting and arresting layers are arranged with a gap of the specified size or between crushing-diverting and arresting layers there arranged is material layer with modulus of elasticity in compression of less than 40 GPa. Separate ceramic elements are made in the form of regular hexagonal prisms, and lateral edges of prisms form a gap between lateral edges of neighbouring elements.
EFFECT: improving armour survivability.
