FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: proposed composite armor has crushing-deflecting layer 1, interlayer 2 and arresting layer 3 connected therewith. Crushing-deflecting layer 1 is composed of a set of separate corundum elements 4 bound by binder 5. Every said corundum element 4 is provided with hexagonal belt 8 made integral therewith. Every face of hexagonal belt 9 is connected with appropriate face of hexagonal belts of adjacent corundum elements 4. Connection may be made with and without gaps to rule out penetration of armor piercing small-caliber billets through crushing-deflecting layer 1.
EFFECT: higher safety.
