FIELD: military equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protective armored panels for absorption of energy of projectiles. Composite armor comprises a retaining layer, a layer of separate elements of a cylindrical shape with one or two convex ends, connected into a single panel with a polymer-based binder and arranged with their axes along the normal to the outer surface of the armor. Retaining layer is made of titanium. Cylindrical elements are made of pressed titanium sponge with residual porosity of 10–20%. Binder based on epoxy resin contains corundum crumbs with particle size of 5–15 mcm at the ratio of epoxy resin 70–90 vol.%, corundum crumbs 10–30 vol.%. Armor additionally comprises a layer located on the outer side of the cylindrical elements and repeating the shape of the convex ends of the elements. Additional layer is made of aluminum.
EFFECT: higher protective properties and durability.
