SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, namely to maintenance of soil in grape inter-row spacings. The method involves planting of high-yielding legumes and grasses in grape inter-row spacings. Mulching of inter-row spacings with herbs that are left standing without crushing and embedding into the soil. Grass seeds are sown in rows of 0.12…0.15 m and seeding rate of not less than 350 thousand pieces of viable seeds per 1 ha. Planting depth is not more than 0.05 m, while nitrogen fertilisers are applied 70 kg rate of application/ha. Packing of herbs in the mulch layer is carried out in the budding stage, blooming of legumes, or ear formation - ear emergence in grasses.

EFFECT: method of soil maintenance in grape inter-row spacings enables to keep moisture in soil in the hot season, to prevent the soil freezing in winter, to reduce wind and water erosion, to reduce soil deformation by machines 2-3 times, and to reduce energy and labor costs and increase yields.
