FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used for continuous casting of titanium and special alloys. Proposed device comprises smelting chamber 16 communicated with casting mould 20, heat sources 28, 30, and pusher 32 to down the casting. Said chamber houses gate 10 with passage 46 between smelting chamber and ambient air. Passage wall has annular flange 54 to define taper section 60 of passage 48. With casting moving in said passage, its outer surface gets coated by liquid glass or other fused material. Glass solid particles flow through feeder 66 into space between casting outer surface 79 and passage wall inner surface 47 to get fused by heated casting. Fused metal coats the casting as its moves through passage to get solidified to make protective coating.

EFFECT: continuous casting of titanium and special alloys.
