SUBSTANCE: method involves a step for determining that a last re-segmented PDU segment of a re-segmented PDU has not been received. In response to determining that the last PDU segment has not been received, the method further involves a step for generating a status report in the receiver of a wireless communication device. The status report contains a beginning segment offset value identifying the byte position from an original PDU which begins the sequence of bytes which are carried in at least the re-segmented last PDU segment and an end segment unknown indicator.
EFFECT: determining and reporting identity of lost data of a re-segmented protocol data unit (PDU).
