SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of matching a communication protocol between a terminal and a network subject, for instance, to matching of a version of a Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) between a terminal with SUPL support and a network object. The method to match a version of location detection in a secure user plane (SUPL) includes transferring a message of SUPL initiation from a platform of SUPL location with SUPL support. The SUPL initiation message identifies a range of SUPL versions capable of supporting the desired service; and receiving a response from a terminal with SUPL support, which is based at least partially on capability of a terminal with SUPL support to support at least one of the versions included into the specified range.
EFFECT: reduced delay in matching SUPL versions between a network object and a terminal with SUPL support.
