FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves making a carbon-plastic workpiece based on carbon fibre and thermoreactive binder, preliminary heat treatment thereof until formation of a coke matrix reinforced with carbon fibres, subsequent compacting of the coke matrix via saturation with pyrolytic carbon and siliconisation. Saturation with pyrolytic carbon is carried out until open porosity of the material is 15-25%, after which the material is saturated with a coke-forming polymer binder, heat treated at 850-1000°C until formation of secondary coke in the pores of the material and siliconised in silicon vapour and holding at temperature 1700-1900°C for 1-3 hours. The coke-forming binder used is preferably a mixture of components during polycondensation of which polymer binder is formed in the pores of the material.

EFFECT: simple method of making articles from carbon-silicon carbide material while maintaining low content of free silicon therein.
