FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing a catalyst for synthesis of hydrocarbons, preferably a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyst, and use thereof in synthesis of hydrocarbons. Described is a method of producing a catalyst, involving steps for: (a) using a melt containing a mixture of at least one iron oxide and a catalyst promoter, selected from a group comprising at least one of the following: an alkali metal source and an alkali-earth metal source, (b) exposing the melt to a stream of liquid so as disperse the melt into droplets containing iron oxide and a catalyst promoter, and (c) chilling the droplets of the melt in order to obtain a hydrocarbon synthesis catalyst in form of solid particles containing iron oxide and a catalyst promoter. Described also is two-phase high-temperature Fischer-Tropsch conversion of raw hydrogen and at least one carbon oxide to hydrocarbons containing at least 40 wt % hydrocarbons with five or more carbon atoms in the presence of a catalyst obtained using the method described above.

EFFECT: improved homogeneous distribution of the promoter in the catalyst and conducting Fischer-Tropsch synthesis with reduced formation of elementary carbon.
