FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to making initial material for sintered magnet. Strip casting device comprises crucible 21 with initial material melt, melt primary cooling devise 23 and device 22 for secondary cooling of cast thin strip. Device 23 comprises cooling roller 25. Melt is fed to cooling roller to output 0.3 mm-thick cast strip. Strip gets into secondary cooling device 22 including tank 40 accommodating multiple row device 50. Strip may also get into crusher 26 to crushed into lumps with sizes approximating to powder. Strip is placed on multiple row device 50 for fine lumps 72 to be placed thereon. Cast fine lumps 71 by minced by impressing appliance 60. Minced fine lumps 72 are quickly cooled at contact with the surface of lower wall 42 and side surfaces of cooling teeth 511, 512, …, 51n. Rich Nd phases or rich R phases are sintered at gradual cooling.
EFFECT: controlled cooling of initial material.
