FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used for casing bimetal cylindrical articles, for example, rolling rolls. Consumable electrodes are placed in mould in number multiple of four and made up of coaxial coils with opposite direction of coiling. Said electrodes are displaced relative to each other and connected to current source with consecutive alteration of polarity. Azimuthal distance between adjacent electrodes exceeds that between ends of said electrodes and mould locking plate. Required rated current is set for every electrode. Liquid slag is poured into mould to feed voltage to all electrodes. Liquid metal is poured into mould under slag layer. In electroslag casting, current is measured and stabilised relative to preset rated current separately for each electrode by varying resistance of supply circuit.
EFFECT: stable process, higher quality of casts.
