FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: basic unit of the instrument is its beam-splitting part, which is a plane-parallel transparent plate through which a primary light beam passes twice - on the forward path and on the return path after reflection from a mirror-reflector. The input screen has a mirror coating on the inner surface. The mounting of the collimating lens has screw for lateral displacement of the lens. The mirror-reflector is mounted with possibility of turning about the vertical and horizontal axes and longitudinal displacement, which ensures sensitivity of adjustment of the instrument, which is necessary for forming a contrast interference pattern and observing the behaviour of distortion of the pattern corresponding to change in parameters of the instrument.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining an interference pattern of non-monochromatic light from a single transparent plate and varying parameters of the instrument to observe the behaviour of distortion of said pattern.
