METHOD OF PERMANENT IMMOBILISATION IN CASE OF LOWER JAW FRACTURES Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B17/24

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to maxillofacial surgery and is intended for treatment of lower jaw fractures localised in dentition. Kirshner's wire with diameter 1.0 mm is introduced into inter-radicular septa at the level of upper third or middle third of roots. Into upper jaw wire is introduced parallel to palate projection to the depth 10-15 mm. Into lower jaw wire is introduced through both compact plates at angle 45 degrees to the plane of oral cavity diaphragm. External free end of wire is curved with anterior salience. After that tooth crowns are bent to equator and fixed by means of wire ligature. After that, wire is bent in form of hook, whose end is bent from one of the sides below salient middle part. After installation of hooks on upper jaw and one hook from each side of fracture, indenting 1.5-2.5 cm from it, they are fixed on lower jaw by means of rubber rod.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to minimise trauma of soft tissues and reduce time of surgery due to stable immobilisation of lower jaw for entire period of treatment.
