FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: inventions can be used in water treatment for enriching drinking water with magnesium ions. To realise the method, drinking water is passed through an ion exchanger containing weakly acidic ion-exchange material saturated in at least part of its ion-exchange capacity with magnesium ions and saturated with hydrogen ions in the range from 70 to 30% of its ion-exchange capacity. In the preferred version of the method, pH of the water ranges from 6.5 or higher to 7.0 or lower. The apparatus for enriching drinking water with magnesium ions has a weakly acidic ion-exchange material saturated in at least part of its ion-exchange capacity with magnesium ions and saturated with hydrogen ions in the range from 70 to 30% of its ion-exchange capacity. In the preferred version of the apparatus, the ion exchanger is made as part of a cartridge for inserting into a drinking water treatment reservoir.
EFFECT: inventions provide simultaneous enrichment of water with magnesium ions and reducing content of calcium ions and heavy metals in the treated water.
