SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture. Use of a composition for coating seeds and/or seedlings in order to improve germination and/or accelerate growth of seedlings, where the composition contains at least one substance which produces SiO₂. The substance which produces SiO₂ is selected from tetraethoxysilane, trimethoxymethylsilane, dimethoxydimethylsilane, polydimethylsiloxane, vinyltrimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and/or 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane. The substance which produces SiO₂ can contain up to 20 wt % Al₂O₃, TiO₂, ZrO₂, MgO and/or V₂O₅, preferably 0.1-50 wt % Al₂O₃, TiO₂, ZrO₂, MgO and V₂O₅, more preferably 1-20 wt % Al₂O₃, TiO₂ and ZrO₂.

EFFECT: improved germination and/or faster growth of seedlings.
