FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cutting tool and method of its production. Cutting tool is provided with wear-resistant coating on bearing plate. The latter includes particles on metal carbide and binder including ruthenium. Said wear-resistant coating comprises hafnium carbonitride. Wear-resistant coating containing hafnium carbonitride may have thickness varying from 1 mcm to 10 mcm. In compliance with another version, cutting tool comprises bearing plate made from hard alloy with binder including, at least, one of the following substances: iron, nickel and cobalt.
EFFECT: longer life.
