FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: electric supply system for electric railway is suggested. Substation for electric railway contains transformer (3) to receive electric energy from AC electric line (2), rectifier (4) connected to transformer (3), power supply line (5) connected to rectifier (4) and nickel-hydride battery (8) as DC power supply, where nickel-hydride battery (8) is directly connected to power supply line. Electric supply system can also contain device for accumulating and supplying electric energy containing nickel-hydride battery connected directly to power supply line and installed out of substation site.

EFFECT: providing stability of transport facilities performance and lowering thermal losses in electric supply system.
