SUBSTANCE: automatic classification system of a short-range hydrolocator has an antenna, a receive-transmit switch and a master generator, a processor for digital multichannel matched processing and detection of signals; a unit for managing classification tasks, a classification processor which includes series-connected measurement threshold selection unit, maximum selection unit, a unit for identification between channels, a radial extension measuring unit, a unit for making an automatic decision on the classification object, an angular extension measuring unit, a unit for forming a table of results, a unit for forming indicator images on the classification object and an indicator. The blocks are connected to each other. The best result is achieved if the system additionally includes a unit for correcting the automatic decision and a unit for forming the decision of the operator.

EFFECT: classification of an object detected by a short-range hydrolocator in automatic mode.
