SUBSTANCE: automatic classification system for a short-range sonar comprises series-connected antenna, receive-transmit switch, driving generator, control unit, receiving device, processor for digital multichannel processing and detection of signals, display, operator decision unit, automatic decision correction unit connected to a classification processor, coordinate determination unit, time and space gating unit, unit for determining gate exit boundaries, unit for selecting an array for classification, wherein the second output of the processor for digital multichannel processing and detection of signals is connected via two-way communication to the unit for selecting an array for classification and through the unit for determining gate exit boundaries to the time and space gating unit, the second input of which is connected to the coordinate determination unit, and the output is connected to the second input of the display, the second output of the unit for selecting an array for classification is connected through the second input of the classification processor to the third input of the display, and the output of the time and space gating unit is connected to the second input of the unit for selecting an array for classification.

EFFECT: classification of an object detected by short-range sonar in automatic mode on multiple targets simultaneously.
