FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electromachining and may be used in machine building for machining current-conducting materials. For cutting metal billet, electric arc is generated by feeding voltage to disc electrode and billet to be cut. Cutting is performed by disc electrode made form low-carbon steel or copper at electrode rim speed defined by experimental relation: υ≈(380÷420)√σT cm/s, where σT is electrode material yield point. Note here that electrode central opening diameter d is related to its OD D by relation d = (0.05÷0.15)D.
EFFECT: higher quality and efficiency.
