FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: composite material based on polycrystalline diamond includes bound matrix of diamond particles bound to each other with formation of set of gaps, and binding phase distributed along those gaps with formation of pockets with binding substance. Phase of tungsten carbide particles is present in binding phase in quantity of more than 0.05 vol. % and not more than 1.5 vol. %. Phase of tungsten carbide particles is uniformly distributed in composite material so that relative root mean square deviation of the grain size of tungsten carbide, which is expressed through diameter of equivalent circle, is less than 1.
EFFECT: material has high wear resistance and impact strength and reduced level of carbide defects.
