SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to cutting elements for use in drilling subterranean formations, to drilling tools with such cutting elements, and to methods of manufacturing such cutting elements. The cutting elements comprise a substrate, a transition layer and a working layer. The transition layer and the working layer comprise a continuous matrix phase and a discrete diamond phase dispersed in the matrix phase. The diamond concentration in the working layer is higher than in the transition layer. Each drilling tool has at least one such cutting element. The methods of manufacturing the cutting elements and the drilling tools comprise mixing diamond crystals with the particles of the matrix to form a mixture. The mixture is prepared so that the content by volume of diamond crystals is approximately 50% or more of solid matter in the mixture. The mixture is sintered to form the working layer of the cutting element, in which there is at least substantially no polycrystalline diamond material and which contains diamond crystals dispersed in a continuous matrix phase formed from the particles of the matrix.

EFFECT: technical result is to increase the lifetime and stability of the cutting elements.
