FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular, to manufacturing of a polycrystalline abrasive material. The abrasive element containing a polycrystalline diamond material having an average size of grains from approximately 0.1 to approximately 10.5 mcm, and a phase that includes a dissolvent catalyst for the diamond material. The polycrystalline diamond material has an average value of free path length for the dissolvent catalyst of less than 0.60 mcm and a root-mean-square error of less than 0.90. The dissolvent catalyst for the diamond material is distributed substantially evenly in the polycrystalline diamond material. A substrate is formed from a free ensemble of particles, a mass of fine-grained diamond particles is placed on the surface, the dissolvent catalyst is provided for the diamond particles, which at least partially is made of nanoparticles. Exposure of this free ensemble with high temperature and high pressure required to form diamond particles of polycrystalline diamond material from the mass.
EFFECT: produced material has homogeneous structure, high strength and wear resistance.
