FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method of gas cooling includes periodical excitation of a compression wave in a chamber filled with gas under initial pressure by means of introduction of a portion of gas under high pressure into the chamber at the side of its first end. Upon completion of the phase of compressing gas available in the chamber under initial pressure, gas supply under high pressure is stopped, and entire heated gas is released at the side of the second end of the chamber, for instance, into environment, at the same time the chamber continuously communicates with a low pressure discharge line. Upon completion of the phase of adiabatic expansion of the gas remaining in the chamber that started after insulation of the chamber at the side of its second end, the cooled gas is introduced into the chamber through throttling until the initial pressure has been achieved in it. The low pressure discharge line communicating with the chamber is connected to the side wall of the chamber at the distance of B=(0.35-0.6)L from its first end, is arranged at the angle α=(23-38)° relative to its longitudinal axis and has a diameter d=(0.6-0.95)D sinα, where D and L are accordingly the diameter and the length of the chamber.

EFFECT: reduced pulsations in a gas flow sent along a low pressure discharge line, under simultaneous reduction of its temperature.
