FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: each measured leaf is placed on a substrate with a white surface, and a palette for cartographic measurements is placed on top of the leaf, wherein the longitudinal axis of the leaf coincides with one of the grid lines of the palette in approximately the middle of the palette. The leaf is then photographed through the transparent palette and the photograph is then stored in computer memory. Measurement of the length, width and area of the leaf, as well as the area of the rectangle described by the leaf is carried out on the meshes of the palette on a magnified image of the leaf with a rectangle described around the leaf. After measuring the required groups of leaves, biotechnical laws of variation of parameters of the leaves depending on each other are determined by statistical modelling of factorial analysis. The found laws of binary factorial relationships are used to plot graphs and leaves of one plant are compared with each other. Types of plants are compared on the groups of taken leaves, and the difference between graphs of the found biotechnical laws is used to evaluate the effect of pollution on each the investigated tree or group of trees of the same or different nature in different growth conditions.

EFFECT: high accuracy of indicating quality of the environment surrounding plant leaves, simple and high efficiency of the process of measuring the area of leaves and other leaf parameters using modern information technologies.
