FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ecology and can be used for acquisition, processing and measurement of birch leaves to perform indication of air contamination as per fluctuating birch leaves. For that purpose, leaves are taken from the specified birch trees growing under the same ecological conditions of a growth place; with that, leaves from one tree are stored separately; leaves should be put into a polyethylene bag; a label should be put into the same bag, on which there should be indicated sampling number and collection place, thus making maximum detailed matching to the locality, and collection date. At short-time storage the collected material shall be stored in a polyethylene bag on the lower shelf of the refrigerator, and for long-time storage the material can be fixed in 60% solution of ethyl alcohol or herborised. With that, leaves are taken from at least 10 specified birch trees growing under the same ecological conditions of a growth place and uniformly distributed along the birch forest. On each of the specified birches there marked are shortened shoots in four cardinal directions; several sample leaves are taken from each shoot, and two parameters are measured from each leaf on the right and left sides of the leaf: width of halves of the leaf and length of the rib of the second order, which is the second one from the leaf base.
EFFECT: invention provides accurate indication of quality of local environment surrounding birch leaves, as well as simplification and improvement of measurement efficiency of parameters of leaves.
