FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: peripheral blood of the patients expected to undergo coronary angioplasty with the use of drug-coated stents is examined for the level of eosinophilic cathionic protein. That is ensured by sampling blood from a median cubital vein in a test tube; the blood samples are centrifuged, and the supernatant is collected in the separate test tubes. The level of eosinophilic cathionic protein in the blood sample is evaluated by ELISA technique. If the concentration of eosinophilic cathionic protein in the blood sample is more than 11 ng/ml, developing restenosis is potentially observable.
EFFECT: use of the technique enables high accuracy and specificity of prediction of a risk of developing restenosis following implantation of the drug-coated stents.
