FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: after the 1st stage of the two-stage course of automyelochemoradiation, blood of the patients suffering stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer is examined for the content of cortisol, and if the concentration falls within the range of 480-540 nmole/l, complete regression of the tumour induced by the therapeutic course is predicted with the remission length being more than 14-25 months; the concentration of cortisol within 32-50 nmole/l provides predicting partial regression of the tumour to be progressing in 2-7 months. The effectiveness of the method consists in obtaining early information on a tumour response on the therapeutic process and a nature of the further clinical course for the purpose of additional therapeutic interventions to be required in the patients with poor prognosis for correction of adrenal functional activity.
EFFECT: well-timed prognosis enables correction of the clinical course of the disease.
