SYSTEM FOR TRAPPING TRACE AMOUNTS OF PARTICLES Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G01N1/02 G01N1/24 B05B17/04

Abstract RU 2467304 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a manual portable device for extracting and trapping desired particles from a desired surface and a method of extracting and trapping desired particles using the device. The device has a reservoir with liquefied carbon dioxide under pressure and at least pulse valve linked to said reservoir. The device also has at least one expansion chamber linked to at least one pulse valve to form an aerosol mixture of particles of frozen carbon dioxide and gaseous carbon dioxide. At least one expansion chamber is linked to at least two nozzles meant for directing jets of the aerosol mixture for overlapping in essentially one focal point downstream at least nozzles. The device has a particle transporting component which provides sucking flow into a hole which draws particles from the aerosol mixture and desired particles extracted by impact action on particles of the aerosol mixture. The device also has a trapping medium for accumulating particles drawn in the sucking flow and a means of assisting the operator to position the device at an optimum distance from the desired surface. The optimum distance is defined by the common focal point of the jets of the aerosol mixture from at least two nozzles lying outside the desired surface.

EFFECT: high accuracy and rate of analysing surface particles while reducing the cost of the work.
