SUBSTANCE: invention relates to scintillation equipment, mainly efficient high-speed scintillation detectors for detecting gamma and X-ray quanta in devices for instant diagnosis in medicine, industry, cosmetic equipment and scientific research. The scintillation material is a crystal or ceramic of the composition BaF2-xTmF3, where x = 0.01-2.5 mol %. One of the methods involves treating the starting crystalline material of the composition BaF2-xTmF3, where x = 0.01-2.5 mol % in the medium of gaseous CF4. The second method involves treatment by hot pressing the starting crystalline material BaF2-xTmF3, where x = 0.01-2.5 mol %, which is in form of a ceramic after treatment and which is annealed in the medium of gaseous CF4.

EFFECT: high intensity and overall luminescence light output.
