FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems for counteracting ranging or targeting active optronic equipment by staging an aerosol cloud and can be used to protect car or armoured equipment. In the method of staging an aerosol cloud for mass protection, the volumetric extended aerosol cloud is formed by shooting aerosol cassettes using a defined number of individual systems for staging an aerosol cloud mounted on spatially spaced apart installations. The size of the aerosol cloud is determined by the number of installations, their arrangement on the site and capabilities of the individual systems for staging an aerosol cloud. Formation of the required size of the aerosol cloud is enabled by commands from one control unit of the individual systems for staging an aerosol cloud on which positions of the installations on the site are displayed, the size and the order of forming the aerosol cloud in the required direction are determined from pooled data, and commands for controlling interfaced individual systems for staging an aerosol cloud are generated. Control of the interfaced individual systems for staging an aerosol cloud can be carried out from an installation controlling the installations or from any installation, pre-assigned to perform a control function.
