SUBSTANCE: invention discloses user equipment (UE), which may detect pilot signals from cells in a wireless network, using noise suppression. UE may process a received signal to detect pilot signals from one or more cells. Pilot signals may be common pilot signals sent with a reuse ratio equal to one, or pilot signals with low reuse sent with a reuse ratio of more than one. UE may assess noise from a detected cell (for instance, the strongest detected cell) and may suppress assessed noise in the received signal. Then UE may process a signal with suppressed noise to detect pilot signals from additional cells. UE may detect pilot signals from a higher number of cells, for instance, from weaker cells, by means of suppression of noise caused by pilot signals from detected cells. It may be useful for various applications, such as positioning.
EFFECT: higher efficiency due to detection of a larger number of cells.
