SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to pediatrics. Determined are mother's anthropometric parameters (weight, height) for the moment of pregnancy beginning, Ketle index in a newborn, length of child's body is measured at the age of 3 months. Prognostic index D is calculated by formula: D= -0.77X1+0.05X2+0.075X3+0.16X4-17.18, where X1 - is Ketle's 1 weight-height index, X2 is mother's weight at the moment of pregnancy beginning (kg), X3 is mother's height (cm), X4 is length of child's body at the age of 3 months (cm), const= -17. 18. If D value is lower than 0, low height of child at the age of 3 years is predicted, and if D value is higher than 0, normal height of child is predicted.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to predict at the first year of life child's height at the age of three years, and in case of unfavourable prognosis, carry out necessary therapy for correction of said patient's health state.
