FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatology, and can be used for prediction of cerebral ischemia in newborns. Apelin, homocysteine and cortisol concentrations, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), plateletcrit (PCT) are determined in peripheral venous blood of the pregnant women with foetal growth retardation at 22-37 weeks of gestation on admission to hospital before the therapy. A prognostic index (D) is then calculated using a given formula. If D is less than 0, the development of cerebral ischemia in the early neonatal period is predicted in newborns born to mothers whose pregnancy was complicated by foetal growth retardation, if D is more than 0, the absence of cerebral ischemia in the early neonatal period is predicted in newborns born to mothers whose pregnancy was complicated by foetal growth retardation.
EFFECT: method provides reducing the frequency of this pathology in newborns from mothers with foetal growth retardation and improving perinatal outcomes by early prediction of cerebral ischemia of newborns, timely allocation of pregnant women into a risk group, optimization of pregnancy management and selection of a delivery method by assessing a combination of the most significant indicators.
