FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary, namely to helminthology. In order to diagnose infection of earthworms with invasive and non-invasive larvae of metastrongylidae, microscopy aimed at detection of metastrongylidae larvae presence is carried out. Cut from anterior part of worm 2.0-3.0 mm long fragments, to sex segments, are covered higher than level of fragments with activating medium, containing 10 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid, porcine pepsin - 4 g, and up to 1000 ml of distilled water, temperature of environment is created equal to from 18 to 30°C. For analysis to be objective number of worms from each biotope must be not less than 50. Microscopy is carried out 30 min after filling with activating medium. Larvae, that have thickening in form of "buttons" at the tail end, are determined as non-invasive, and larvae, which have sharp tail end, carrying a little above it cuticular spike, as invasive.
EFFECT: method increases efficiency of diagnosing infection of earthworms with invasive and non-invasive larvae of metastrongylidae due to complete digestion of earthworm cuticle and elimination of crushing envelopes of metastrogylidae larvae.
