FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic scanner for scanning an article with a complex outline has a housing; a first ultrasonic radiator having a first scanning direction; a second ultrasonic radiator having a second scanning direction; and an element for providing acoustic contact which is configured to provide ultrasonic contact between the radiator and the article having a complex outline on a contact surface, wherein the radiators are mounted on the housing such that the first and second scanning directions are essentially perpendicular to the contact surface, and the angle between the first and second scanning directions is not equal to zero, wherein the radiators are mounted on the housing such that the scanning directions essentially pass through one focal axis, and each scanning direction is perpendicular to the focal axis, the focal axis lying between the radiators and the contact surface.

EFFECT: design of a compact, portable device for ultrasonic inspection of articles having a complex outline, as well sharp areas.
