FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic scanner for scanning an article has an ultrasonic radiator which is an ultrasonic array in form a one-dimensional array which defines the direction of scanning, a solid element for providing acoustic contact, having a surface for contact with the radiator and a surface for contact with the scanned article, wherein said element at least partly surrounds the radiator in form of an array while providing the required arrangement of the radiator relative the surface for contact with the scanned article such that the one-dimensional array lies parallel to the surface for contact with the radiator and the surface for contact with the article.
EFFECT: design of a device for ultrasonic inspection with a solid contact element, having low acoustic loss and low coefficient of friction.
