FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method of making polyethylene film with ultrahigh molecular weight (UMW). Note here that said film features tension strength of, at least, 2.0 GPa, crushing energy in tension of, at least, 30 J/g, and content of organic solvent lower that 100 ppm. Note also that proposed method comprises compaction of initial UMV with weighed average molecular weight of, at least, 500000 g/mol, elasticity modulus defined immediately after fusion at 160°C not exceeding 0.9 MPa, and Mx-to-Mn ratio not exceeding 6. Then, said material is extruded so that there is no temperature point exceeding fusion temperature.
EFFECT: higher tension strength and crushing energy in tension.
