FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises consecutive reduction of flat billet in driven rolls of continuous set of stands with interstand tension. Reduction in braking effect to motors of next stand is ensured by that in, at least, one stand of said set, rolling is carried out in idle rolls wit relative reduction of not over 30% and at specific front tension making 0.4-0.9 of strip material yield point. Rolling at said continuous set may be performed at sequential alternation of stands with drive and idle rolls. Besides, strip reduction in stand with driven rolls is performed with roughness, at least 1.5 mcm Ra, while, in stands with idle rolls, roughness does not exceed 0.8 mcm Ra.
EFFECT: reduction in braking effect to motors of next stand.
